The designer's first steps
The daughter of a model mother and a photographer father, Isabel Marant quickly developed a passion for the world of fashion. After training at the Parisian fashion school Studio Berçot, Isabel Marant continued her training as an intern with French designer Michel Klein. She then designed two collections for Yorke & Cole, and assisted artistic director Marc Ascoli on brands such as Chloé and Yohji Yamamoto. In 1989, at the age of 22, she launched her first knitwear and jersey label under the name Twen. Finally, in 1994, the designer founded her eponymous ready-to-wear label in Paris. The following year, Isabel Marant unveiled her pieces to the public at her first fashion show. Her creations were brought to life by her model friends, who took to the catwalk to present her ready-to-wear collection.
